TO: All Residents FROM: Property Maintenance Manager DATE: March 18, 2020 RE: In-Unit Maintenance Requests
During times of crisis, including the recent public health concerns and updates surrounding the recent coronavirus (COVID-19), it is natural for our anxieties to rise. While the number of confirmed cases in the United States remains relatively low, precautions are being taken to limit continued exposure and slow the spread of the illness. At this time, we are following the protocol aligned with the Government and the CDC to maintain Social Distancing. There will be NO IN-Unit Maintenance work performed except for authorized emergencies. If you experience an emergency, please contact us immediately. The common hallways and laundry room will be cleaned and disinfected on the normal Thursday schedule. For now, we encourage you to consider the following non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs), which are everyday preventive actions that can help keep you and your family from getting and spreading respiratory illnesses. These interventions include the following:
If you are sick, stay home to avoid infecting others. The best way to manage a contagious illness is to reduce exposure to others.
Health experts agree that the best way to reduce the spread of illness is to wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds at a time. They also recommend not touching your eyes, mouth and nose with your bare hands.
Cover your mouth with your bent elbow when you cough and sneeze. Keep a distance from others to prevent the spread of the virus. Avoid contact with vulnerable populations, such as the elderly or those with preexisting medical conditions.
Use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol when soap and water are not available
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends keeping 1 meter (3 feet) from someone who may be sick.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
